Microsoft Surface Duo may not come to India until 2021: Reports says

-

Users who are looking forward to the Surface Duo, will have to wait a little longer to get their hands on it as Microsoft has no plans to bring the new smartphone to other countries anytime soon.

HIGHLIGHTS

  • Microsoft Surface Duo was initially shown off in September 2019.
  • Microsoft Surface Duo will be available in the US from September 10, 2020.
  • Microsoft Surface Duo may arrive in India in the first half of 2021.

Microsoft Surface Duo was initially shown off in September 2019. After months of teasing, the company is now finally launching the dual-screen smartphone. The new Surface Duo will be available from September 10, 2020 and the pre-orders have already begun from August 12, 2020 in the US.

The price for the Surface Duo is $1399 for the 128GB variant, and $1499 for the 256GB variant. Now, who would want to know the price of Microsoft Surface Duo in the Indian rupees. But that is the thing, Microsoft’s new foldable smartphone may not make its way to other countries until 2021.

For the people who are looking forward to the Surface Duo, will have to wait a little longer to get their hands on it as Microsoft has no plans to bring the new smartphone to other countries anytime soon. Though users outside the US can expect the Surface Duo to arrive in 2021 but the company refrained from giving a timeframe.

Reason behind the delay

Microsoft wants to make sure that everything goes fine with its Surface Duo. The company will first ship the new foldable smartphone in the US, note users’ reactions and then go ahead with the product accordingly.

Microsoft launched its Surface RT tablet in 2012 and the company built more devices than it could sell. Microsoft has certainly learnt from its mistake and this time, for the Surface Duo, the company wants to take a measured and phased approach to availability to meet customer demand.

While this is a valid reason for the company to delay Surface Duo in other markets, it is equally disappointing for the users. Also, a problem with this delay is that the Microsoft Surface Duo packs a year-old Snapdragon 855 chipset. Though the SD 855 chipset is quite efficient, the users would expect the latest from such a high-end smartphone.
