Must read

Make sure you have an active iCloud+ subscription before you start using Hide My Email.

You can hide your personal email address and keep it private by using the Hide My Email feature in iOS 15 and iPadOS 15.Apple devices can now exchange random, one-of-a-kind email addresses that users can use to join up for services that want their personal email address. The random addresses enable email forwarding to your personal mailbox and provide you the flexibility to remove emails whenever you choose.Hide My Email may also be accessed directly from Safari, Mail, and iCloud settings for iPhone and iPad users.

You can find a step-by-step tutorial for using Hide My Email on an Apple device in this post.

Prior to getting started, it’s crucial to understand that the Hide My Email feature is a component of iCloud+, a paid subscription-based service that costs as little as Rs. 75 ($0.99 in the US) per month.

The function, which is restricted to services that can be signed up for using an Apple ID, is also an expansion of the current Sign in with Apple feature that the Cupertino company announced in 2019.Unlike Sign in with Apple, Hide-My-Email lets users create random email addresses that can be used everywhere.Additionally, users have the option to manage their current arbitrary email addresses or deactivate any one of them whenever they wish.

How to set up Hide My Email

Once you have iCloud+ on your iPhone or iPad, you can set up Hide My Email. Here’s how.

  1. Go to Settings and then tap your name from the top.
  2. Now, select iCloud > Hide My Email.
  3. Tap + Create new address. This will allow Apple to generate a random email address with @icloud.com that you can use for signing up on a new site or app, without letting the developers know your personal email address. The emails shared with the randomly-generated email address will land in your personal inbox.
  4. Hit Continue if you like the auto-generated random email address. Alternatively, you can tap Use different address to get a new email.
  5. Now, you need to create a label for your address to help you remember how you are using it in the future. You can also add a note for further reference.
  6. Tap Next from the top-right side.

Your arbitrary email address has now been configured for use. When using it on your iPhone or iPad, simply copy it from the Hide My Email settings.

How to manage or delete email addresses created using Hide My Email

The procedures to manage or remove your randomly generated email addresses using Hide My Email are listed below.

  1. Go to Settings and then tap your name from the top.
  2. Select iCloud > Hide My Email.
  3. Tap the label that is associated with the random email address that you want to manage.
  4. Select the Label option if you want to change the label of your address. You can also add a note by tapping Note. If you want to delete the address altogether, you can do that as well — by tapping Deactivate email address.

Although Hide My Email has been available on Apple devices since iOS 15 and iPadOS 15 were introduced in September, the capability was extended to the Mail app with the release of iOS 15.2 and iPadOS 15.2 earlier this month. This gave customers the option to generate a random email address that they could use while sending emails using the preinstalled app.
