According to Uber, passengers who book rides via WhatsApp will have access to the same security measures and insurance coverage as those who do so using the Uber app.
WhatsApp, the most popular instant messaging service in India, is getting Uber.A new way to book a cab using WhatsApp has been introduced by the cab aggregator.Beginning this week, Uber will roll out its new cab booking service.However, the Delhi NCR area would be its initial market.Beginning in December 2021, the functionality was initially tested in the Lucknow area.The user will be able to completely omit the Uber app if they so choose thanks to this new feature.
Uber will soon launch a new feature that will allow residents of Delhi NCR to book an Uber trip via their official WhatsApp chatbot.The WhatsApp chat interface will be used to manage everything, including user registration, ride booking, and trip receipts.Uber will provide support for both English and Hindi in order to increase chat bot acceptance.
WhatsApp users can book an Uber ride in three steps:
-Send ‘Hi’ on Whatsapp to +91 7292000002
-They will then be asked to provide pickup and drop off locations
-Users will then receive fare information and the driver’s expected time of arrival.
According to Uber, passengers will have access to the same security measures and insurance coverage as those who make direct reservations using the Uber app.At the time of booking, they will be informed of the name and licence plate of the driver.Additionally, they will be able to use a masked number to call the driver secretly while tracking their location as they travel to the pickup site.
The rider will learn about safety precautions, including how to contact Uber in an emergency, through the WhatsApp chat flow (type help on-trip).The Uber customer support service will call the consumer if they choose the “emergency” option while on the trip.Additionally, until 30 minutes following the end of the trip, Uber users will have access to the company’s safety line number.
Both new and seasoned Uber users who registered with just a phone number can utilise the service.Uber promises that a future update will make it possible for current customers to also schedule trips over WhatsApp.Uber has guaranteed that the experience of drivers using its platform will not change as a result of rides being booked over WhatsApp.They will have to continue using the partner app, though.
