Airtel Announces Successful Trial Of 5G Private Network At BOSCH Facility

Must read

At Bosch’s production site, Airtel has implemented two industrial-grade use cases for quality enhancement and operational effectiveness.

The successful 5G private network experiment at the Bengaluru site of Bosch Automotive Electronics India was revealed by Bharti Airtel on Friday.

According to a statement, the Department of Telecom’s (DoT) trial spectrum was used to build Airtel’s on-premise 5G captive private network.

According to Airtel, the first private 5G network in India has been installed at a BOSCH facility.

“Airtel’s ability to provide top-notch private network solutions for Industry 4.0 is successfully demonstrated by the experiment”, it was said.

In order to increase operational effectiveness and quality at Bosch’s production facilities, Airtel has deployed two industrial grade use cases using the trial spectrum.

In both instances, automated operations were driven by 5G technology, including mobile broadband and ultra-reliable low latency communications, the statement added. This allowed for faster scale-up and fewer downtimes.

The statement said, “The private network installed on trial spectrum at the Bosch factory has the capacity to manage thousands of connected devices and generate multi-GBps throughput”.

According to a study published last month, the three private telecom companies Reliance Jio, Bharti Airtel, and Vodafone Idea are anticipated to purchase spectrum worth Rs. 71,000 crore in the upcoming 5G auction, leaving the vast bulk of radiowaves up for bid unsold.

The government’s in-principle approval of giving spectrum directly to businesses will result in a negative outcome for the mega auction, claims the recently released research.

“Despite the fact that there is a plentiful supply, the government has not reduced the suggested reserve prices by TRAI despite claims to the contrary from carriers.Only four of the ten bands are up for bid by telecoms, and spectrum ought to be offered at the basic price.Jio, Bharti, and Vi are expected to spend, respectively, Rs. 37,500 crore, Rs. 25,000 crore, and Rs. 8,500 crore on spectrum” said IIFL.
